CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental, Jan. 25 (PIA) -- A Provincial Agriculture Development Complex in Barangay Ane-i here has been launched on Jan. 22 to serve as a processing center of various agricultural products.
The seven-hectare facility was acquired by the provincial government through a Deed of Grant of Usufructuary Rights from the Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corporation (PMFTC), Inc., which then served as tobacco plantation facility of the said company.
As the facilities are now under the management of the provincial government of Misamis Oriental, it will now be used to process various agricultural products and this would help address th post-harvest loss and the value-adding needs of farmers, fisherfolks and agri-entrepreneurs.
Governor Yevgency Vincente "Bambi" Emano together with Provincial Agriculturist Jose Apollo Pacamalan envisioned to make the said complex a state-of-the-art facility that will cater to food processing activities in compliance with good manufacturing practices as mandated by the Food and Drugs Administration.
As the complex will be fully operational, Emano expects that this will bring more job opportunities for Misamisnons and increase food sufficiency.
Meanwhile, the poverty index is also expected to reduce with the help of the Misamis Oriental Provincial Agriculture Development Complex. (JAKArana/PIA10)
